The Power of Raw Honey and of Questions

Sam’s bi-weekly newsletter - Edition 01 - December 5th, 2023

One learning/discovery

I discovered this raw honey at Costco and I’m LOVING it! I’m sure you’ve heard that honey may help you sleep better. Here's the idea behind it:

1. Raw honey helps replenish your liver's glycogen stores, potentially preventing you from waking up due to hunger.

2. The tryptophan found in raw honey helps your brain naturally release melatonin (tryptophan is a precursor to melatonin).

Snack idea for evening snackers (like me):
Replace your evening snack by a tablespoon of raw honey mixed with a tablespoon of almond butter. Add a bit os seal salt… you’re welcome!

One question

When facing a decision, stop asking ‘what should I do?’ and start asking ‘what are the right questions to help me make the right decision?’.

As a teenager, I had no framework for decision-making - other than saying ‘F**k it, let’s roll the dice’ because I heard it on my favourite TV shows (Entourage) and it sounded cool.

As I grew older, I developed a comprehensive framework and it all revolves around asking the right questions (find out more here).

One workout

I’m building back my strength to create a strong foundation for whatever challenge I tackle in 2024. Here’s my Tuesday workout:

A - Romanian Deadlift: 5 sets of 5 reps with 2 min rest between sets

B - Split Squats: 5 sets of 8 reps per leg (heavy) with 1 min rest between sets

C1 - Bench Press: 5 sets of 5 reps without any rest, go straight to C2

C2 - Plyo Push-Ups: 6 reps with 2 min rest before starting C1 again

D - Filly Presses: 4 sets of 8 reps per side with 1 min rest between sets (see demonstration in this video)

Simple, full-body-ish, and very effective!
